UPDATE: Empower You Winners (Part 1 of 3)
In December 2015, 10 deserving individuals were awarded full tuition coverage for the Health Coach Training Program, through Empower You. The winners demonstrated their passion for health and wellness and how an Integrative Nutrition education would empower them to live their best lives.
We were truly inspired by their stories and passion for spreading the Ripple Effect of health and happiness by becoming an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach!
Recently, we caught up with the winners to see what they’ve been up to and how they are enjoying the program. Check out their stories:
Dalilia Stitz (Texas)
Before IIN, I was always scouring the Internet or bookstores for new content on health and nutrition. This program brings the best thinking on nutrition together in one place. It’s a buffet for the health-oriented mind! Each week of new content is like opening a present – I truly see this learning opportunity as a gift.
I would never have guessed before enrolling that I’d be listening to lectures on finances or spirituality at a nutrition school. It has been a breath of fresh air to see so many concepts important to living a well-balanced life being integrated into this school. I suppose that’s exactly why it’s called the Institute for Integrative Nutrition!
I’ve been empowered to step outside of my comfort zone and expand my current daily habits and routines. I’ve completely reorganized my refrigerator and pantry, pulled out the slow juicer collecting dust under my cabinets, purchased superfoods that I would have previously left on the grocery store shelf and tried alternative methods of food preparation.
Beyond nutrition, I have been empowered to live a more integrated, balanced life by investing time in areas of Primary Food. I’m already living a much fuller life today, but still I am convinced that the best is yet to come!
After graduation I plan to work with clients one-on-one as well as in group settings and partner with health professionals in my community to empower people to gain control over their own health. I may also consider continuing my education through one of IIN’s educational partnerships!
Natasha McClung (Mississippi)
What surprised me the most about the program is the strong community of support IIN offers. Despite being an online program, I feel so connected to my classmates.
Over six years ago, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis which affected every area of my life. I was at a very low point when I started IIN, however, due to the knowledge I’ve gained, I’ve decided this disease is not going to give definition to my life, only I can give definition to my life. I have hope again!
IIN has empowered me to invest in my health and wellness. The wealth of information offered through the curriculum and other resources has truly been life-changing and I have learned that in order to be an effective Health Coach, I must be the first to try out the information I’m learning on myself.
IIN has also given me an opportunity to make a career change while still helping people. My plan upon graduation is to host multiple events throughout the state of Mississippi to bring awareness of alternative health solutions.
Christa Angelo (Maryland)
From encouraging me to improve my relationships and my finances, to believing in myself and knowing my worth and trusting that my body can heal itself, IIN has empowered me to live my best life and I am confident I can empower others to learn how to do the same!
I look forward to every opportunity I have during the day to sit down, listen to a lecture, review my notes and apply what I'm learning to my own life. It's seriously the highlight of my day!
I love the emphasis on bio-individuality and learning about all of the different dietary theories. I’ve learned to weed out the foods that don’t work for me and understand why, while incorporating more foods that allow me to thrive. I’ve also explored new ways to make some of my favorite foods more nutritious, have dabbled in raw foods, and eliminated foods I know make me feel less vibrant. I've also started to make changes with some of my "primary foods" - such as deepening my spirituality and putting more energy and love into my relationships.
After graduation, I plan to apply for a city grant to offer nutrition classes and workshops to lower income families to help improve quality of life in my community. I'm also beginning to lead International Yoga Retreats and I'd love to start my own made-to-order raw, vegan dessert business!
Whether you want to become a Health Coach or simply improve your own health, everyone can benefit from an IIN education. Once you know the power in this course there is no way you can keep it to yourself, you have to share
