Before enrolling at IIN, I was (and still am) working in public policy and law reform. I have been doing this work for nearly eight years and have had a varied career so far, working on child abuse, family violence, corruption, and criminal justice issues. Prior to this, I spent eight years in the fitness industry, working as a multidisciplinary group fitness instructor and small business owner.
Enrolling in the HCTP set me on a course to bridge my two worlds of health and fitness and leadership in public service. Guided by the concepts of bio-individuality and multidimensional health, I am discovering new ways of supporting others every day to step into their most empowered selves, influencing workplace culture for the better, and working in a more conscious, balanced, and sustainable way.

Before I decided to get my health coaching certificate, I was somewhat down and aimless. I didn’t understand why I felt the way I did; I didn’t understand my body, much less my hormones. My mind and my spirit were in constant conflict. For a while, I was separated from my loved ones, which reinforced my feeling of being misunderstood. I wondered how there were people with so much passion about how to carry out their life purpose, while I, shortly after turning 50, still had not figured out mine.
I had had a lot of experience helping people convey their feelings through body expression at the first pole dance studio in my country (Costa Rica). My studio helped more than 4,500 women over eight years, but I didn’t realize that my calling to serve others went beyond being an instructor in my studio. I sold my studio, and knowing I had to take action to achieve positive results on my personal situation, I began a yearlong search for the best certification that could give me the balance and direction I needed in my life. A friend told me about IIN, and supported by my partner, I decided to invest in myself with solid foundations so that today I have become a holistic Health Coach.
During this process at IIN, I had a spiritual, mental, and emotional transformation. I met incredible people, with whom I shared extremely enriching experiences, both inside and outside the virtual classroom, in Latin America, Australia, and Europe. IIN doesn’t have borders and isn’t in a solely physical space. It reminds us that knowledge is infinite and it’s up to each one of us as coaches to expand this domino effect to give hope to those who need it.
Thanks to all the tools and learning obtained with IIN, I understand my body, the functioning of my hormones, and how important nutrition is, not only for my body, but for my relationships, my soul, my mind, and my spirit, among many other areas; I can now help and serve other people with a very clear life purpose.
It seems that my whole life prepared me to make the decision to serve my community and the planet we live on today. Finally, I can say with certainty that it is never too late for anyone to continue seeking to evolve. Thank you, IIN community!
