Can we be honest here? Most adult women (75%) have had at least one yeast infection, and many of us get them frequently.
These infections are super-common yet often difficult for women to talk about because they’re embarrassed to discuss this sensitive and often-judged area of the body, especially when they have a condition that makes it “imperfect.”
Formally known as vulvovaginal candidiasis, there are many causes of yeast infections.
Guess what one of the most common ones is? Antibiotics.
Antibiotics throw off the natural balance of bacteria in the gut and in the vaginal area, leading to yeast infections. Why is it that the medical monopoly is behind such a common infection that women experience all the time? Coincidence or not? Tell us your opinion on this in the comments below. We cover this topic more in the Health Coach Training Program so our graduates can help themselves and then their clients.
Today we want to make it easier to understand why yeast infections happen so you can learn to prevent them naturally and feel comfortable and healthy. Rather than depend on synthetic medications, try a holistic approach.
First, let’s review the most common causes of yeast infections:
Causes
- Stress
- Hormones
- Antibiotics
- Birth control pills
- Unprotected sex
- Overconsumption of sugar, fruit and grains
- Environmental toxins
- Weak immune system
- Douching
Holistic Cures
Once you already have a yeast infection, the quickest way to rid your body of excess yeast and balance bacteria is by consuming high doses of probiotics. Find a probiotic supplement that works for you, and eat plenty of naturally-fermented, probiotic-containing foods like sauerkraut, pickles, and beet kvass.
When healing an infection, avoid sugar, fruit, grains, cheese, mushrooms (fungus), corn and peanuts (often contain mold), potatoes, vinegar, and alcohol.
Emphasize vegetables, lean protein, high-quality fats, pure, low-sugar vegetable juices, and filtered water in your diet. Eat more garlic, onions, ginger, and turmeric to help your body balance bacteria and kill infection.
Holistic Prevention
Want to avoid yeast infections and feel awesome? Eat a healthy, low-grain, low-sugar diet full of vegetables, protein, healthy fats, low-glycemic fruits, and water.
Avoid the foods listed above under Holistic Cures as much as possible, and try not to take synthetic pills, especially antibiotics and birth control pills.
Always practice safe sex and use protection.
Definitely avoid douching – the vagina is self-cleaning and douching upsets the natural balance of good and bad bacteria.
It’s crucial to manage stress and reduce environmental toxins in your life to prevent yeast infections.
Switch to natural products in your home to reduce the toxic load on your body, from cleaning to personal care products. You can find natural versions of anything at health food stores, or even make them yourself at home.
Side Effects of Holistic Treatment and Prevention
None! That’s the best part. When you do things holistically rather than taking synthetic drugs, there are no side effects except feeling awesome and energized. How cool is that?
