“I have always loved helping people, and now I get to do it with something I am passionate about.” This is the sentiment behind Health Coach Maya Chambers’ mission, and one that so many Integrative Nutrition graduates share.
For Maya, that happens to be in the form of an organic, vegan juice and smoothie line! The New Yorker also does meal planning and creates healthy recipes to help her clients lose weight, lift their energy levels and feel fabulous. Read on to hear how she transitioned from the fashion industry to fruit juices and smoothies!
What were you doing prior to enrolling at Integrative Nutrition?
I was working in the fashion industry as a freelance make up artist, visual merchandiser and sales stylist. I also mentored children at the children's aide society and tutored for after school programs in my free time.
What led you to explore the Health Coach Training Program?
I have always had a deep love and appreciation for health, wellness and healing. I would come across information online until one day I made the phone call to IIN, and the rest is history!
How did your life change after enrolling?
The knowledge I gained helped tremendously with working with clients,. I love how the program discusses holistic wellness, meditation, and healthy relationships in addition to nutrition. Those factors play an important part regarding someone's well being and health. The more education, the better.
What are you doing now?
Before attending IIN, I started my juice line called Maya Goddess Juices. Since beginning the program, I have started coaching clients, assisting them, talking about healthier foods and for those with busy schedules, I do meal prep and meal plans. My fresh juices and smoothies also work well for clients and customers who want to loose some weight. My focus is to help as many people as I can by incorporating healthy eating, fresh juices, meditation and yoga.
What makes you and your practice or product unique?
My story. I was diagnosed with fibroids at a young age and I treated myself holistically, by changing what I ate: more fruits, vegetables and vegan, raw foods. I took time for myself, I meditated more. I became more present. My skin cleared up, my body changed and my mental state changed. But the biggest accomplishment was that my fibroids have not grown since making the adjustments. I took my health and life into my own hands.
How do you help your clients be successful?
I help my clients become successful by guiding them! The relationship we share is like a friendship, we laugh, I listen and we connect on many levels. One of my best success stories: I met a woman who expressed how drained she felt. She had gained weight, her skin wasn't radiant, her energy was low and she was moody most of the time. I found out she ate a lot of processed foods and drank sugary drinks. I made a meal plan with healthier options including salads, vegetables, low-sugar fruit smoothies. Within a few months she looked amazing, she lost weight, her skin glowed, her energy level increased, she felt happier, her blood pressure was the lowest it had been in years and she slept better. I still make juices for her but she is able to apply those things to her life herself!
What do you love about your work?
I have always loved helping people, and now I get to do it with something I am passionate about. I love cooking and going to the farmer's market. I love meeting and talking with people. It's all exciting!
