As a professional dancer turned fitness expert, IIN graduate Dani Coleman has built a career dedicated to sustainable movement and well-being. Now the Director of Training at Pvolve, Dani empowers clients to find strength in physical fitness and beyond.
In this Q&A, Dani reflects on how her IIN education transformed her approach to wellness and shares practical advice for creating inclusive spaces, prioritizing self-care, trusting your instincts, and building a fulfilling career in the wellness industry.
IIN: Can you share a little about your journey in health and wellness and your work at Pvolve?
Dani: I fell in love with fitness from a young age – my family enrolled me in dance lessons at the age of two. I have been drawn to movement since and wanted to expand my knowledge of fitness. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. After years of dancing professionally, I started experiencing pain that impacted my relationship with movement. As a result, I pursued certifications from NASM, The Gray Institute, and The Institute for Integrative Nutrition to better understand how to train more effectively. I have been in the fitness industry for over ten years now! I could not be more thrilled that my continued love for movement led me to Pvolve as their Director of Training. In that role I am responsible for training and onboarding Pvolve instructors, help create an unparalleled studio experience for our guests, and have the privilege of training private clients in the Pvolve method. Notably, Jennifer Aniston!
IIN: What drew you to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition? What inspired you to enroll in the Chopra Yoga Program and Hormone Health Course?
Dani: I remember hearing about IIN’s Health Coach Training Program from my friends who were participating in the course and was instantly curious about what IIN does. From there, I went on to IIN’s website and explored all of the courses being offered and I was stopped in my tracks by the Health Hormone Course description. That course shifted how I interact with the world from the products I use, the foods I eat, and how I approach training my clients.
A few years later, I enrolled in the Chopra Yoga Program because I wanted to personally find more balance in my life and to be able to offer my clients more when it came to private training.
IIN: How have experiences at IIN shaped your journey? How do you see your career evolving with the tools you’ve gained from IIN?
Dani: IIN has been such a light in my life, especially this past year with the Chopra Yoga Training. It was incredible to experience so many wonderful humans across the world and to gain an entirely new community. Through my IIN courses I have professionally gained skill sets that allow me to give back to my clients beyond just the physical work and allow me to help them more holistically.
IIN: How do you create a sense of community and belonging within your training?
Dani: My favorite part of training is truly finding ways to build community and bring movement to more communities. There is nothing more fulfilling than working with clients consistently and watching people find their strength. Training comes with such a responsibility and I always want to make sure I am creating spaces that feel safe, supported, and welcome to everyone! Outside of the work I do with Pvolve, I also volunteer weekly at the Little Tokyo Service Center in downtown Los Angeles and teach a class to their Seniors with a focus on longevity.
IIN: How do you personally stay balanced and grounded in daily life?
Dani: Through my Chopra Yoga Training and The Health Hormone course I have learned the importance of nurturing my mind and body with meditation. Every day I start with meditation in the morning and I have experienced the biggest shift in how I can show up personally and professionally in my daily life.
IIN: If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their fitness or wellness journey, what would it be?
Dani: The one piece of advice I would give to someone just starting their fitness journey is that it does not have to be all or nothing. Life is meant to be lived and we do not have to sacrifice our joy, well-being, or self for our workouts. At Pvolve we say, “Break a sweat, not your body”, and I really believe that.
IIN: For someone considering an education at IIN or Chopra Yoga Program, what advice would you offer?
Dani: To trust yourself and dive in. You will be in the most incredible hands being led by the wonderful Yoga Teachers of IIN, you will gain a worldwide community of support from your peers, and your mind and body will leave this process thanking you. The resources are well-rounded, responsibly brought to life, and appeal to all learning styles. Furthermore, the digital platform makes learning the material on your own time easy and accessible when balancing work and life. It was the best decision of my 2024 and I can’t recommend Chopra and IIN enough.
IIN: Do you have any advice for IIN students or grads looking to break into the fitness industry?
Dani: There are so many wonderful ways to get involved in fitness and if you are graduating with certifications from IIN you are already ahead of the curve. Find what’s important to you and your community will come!
IIN: What’s next for you, and how do you hope to continue helping people improve their fitness and overall wellness?
Dani: Looking ahead to what’s next - you can find me at Pvolve West Hollywood teaching classes and incorporating my learnings from IIN into my workouts. Outside of the studio, I will continue to focus on bringing movement to more communities and helping people gain access to these spaces.
IIN: Is there anything else you’d like to share with the IIN community? What’s one thing you wish more people knew about?
Dani: The wonderful courses that IIN has to offer! I’m eyeing the Health Coach Training next! If you have taken that course or simply want to connect, find me at @dani_bcoleman!
