When Integrative Nutrition began as a small school 25 years ago, health coaching was not a field most people were familiar with. The wellness movement was just starting to trend and chronic diseases were on the rise.
Now, decades later, Health Coaches have made tremendous strides in improving global wellness and raising awareness that food changes everything.
It’s been a long and bumpy road, but we’re stronger than ever today!
As we celebrate Health Coach Week and take pride in the countless accomplishments of our students, graduates, and partners in this powerful shift, we reflect upon how far we’ve come.
It's no small feat that our graduates have helped thousands of people transform their health, prevent disease, and live fuller, more balanced lives. They’ve also played a role in school food programs, educating the public through media, and influencing government policy.
But the biggest accomplishment of all?
Improving upon the conventional medical paradigm by showing that Health Coaches fill a vital gap between patients and doctors.
With more doctors and medical practitioners recognizing the value of nutrition, movement, and other lifestyle factors in overall health, an increasing number of them have begun to employ Health Coaches as part of their long-term patient care strategy. Integrating Health Coaches as accessible contacts for patients implementing a healthier diet and greater self-care has created a firm foundation for a better vision of health care going forward. Now that’s good news for everyone!
While we still have a ways to go before Health Coaches are fully recognized by all medical professionals, policy-makers, and individuals, year after year we are getting closer to this ultimate goal, and government legislation sure helps!
