A Health Coach Explains Optimizing Hormone Health [VIDEO]

Written by Integrative Nutrition | Jun 8, 2024 1:11:07 PM

Why is hormonal balance important?

Hormones are responsible for keeping our bodies humming. From maintaining blood sugar and coordinating growth to regulating hunger and digestion and facilitating sleep, hormones do it all! So it’s no surprise that when hormones are thrown out of balance due to poor diet, lack of sleep, or high stress, you won’t feel your best. Some hormonal imbalances are beyond our control, like an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid called Hashimoto’s, which halts the production of thyroid hormones necessary to regulate body temperature, heartbeat, digestion, muscle contraction, and much more.

Whatever the cause, when there’s a hormonal imbalance, our bodies are quick to let us know, and it’s up to us to listen to those messages!

But how do we heed those calls while also taking care of ourselves well enough to prevent further hormonal imbalance? That’s where a Health Coach comes in!

A Health Coach’s main role is to support their clients in reaching their health goals. A Health Coach’s work will not include ordering lab work to review hormone levels, nor will it include prescribing treatment for hormonal imbalance. Rather, a Health Coach can guide their clients to better understand the diet and lifestyle protocols recommended by their healthcare practitioners, including setting goals to implement necessary changes and holding them accountable to those goals.

A Health Coach can also talk their clients through foundational diet and lifestyle changes that can better support short-term and long-term health, including hormone health!

In this video, you’ll learn:

  • What hormones are and their main functions in the body
  • Common symptoms of hormonal imbalance in men and women
  • How to address hormone health through primary and secondary food
  • The one food group that has a bad reputation but is crucial for hormone health
