In the Health Coach Training Program, we discuss the importance of goal setting – not just for clients, but for you, too. Understanding where you are right now and where you hope to be is essential to accomplishing the things that are most important to you. One of the best exercises you can do is grabbing a piece of paper and writing down your goals for the next month, the next year, and maybe even the next five years. Then, as you continue to grow, you can keep your priorities in check. Plus, don’t be alarmed if your goals change over time. It’s okay to reevaluate and modify as priorities and goals often shift. Life happens!
Here are a few things to keep in mind so you don’t feel overwhelmed or frustrated on your path to building your health coaching business.
Start small.
When you’re just starting out, you shouldn’t put too much pressure on yourself to accomplish a certain number of goals by a specific date. Make sure the goals you set are actually reachable! It might not be realistic to start out saying you want to sign 50 clients in your first year. Remember that you want to set yourself up for success, not failure. You have an exciting future ahead, so start small; those baby steps will gradually turn into something far greater.
Ask yourself, “What does success mean to me?”
Success means something different to everyone; it’s bio-individual. For some, success might mean hitting a certain income level or signing a certain number of clients, while for others, it might mean finally getting to be your own boss. To achieve the success you’re striving for, you first need to define it. Once you figure out what it means, you can plan the steps you need to take and the goals you need to set to get there.
Come up with a personal mantra.
Why do you want to become a Health Coach? Are you hoping to improve your own health or the lives of others? Maybe it’s both! While mantras are often associated with meditation and yoga, crafting one that’s meaningful to you can actually make an impact. Think about your achievements, your strengths, and what makes you feel most confident. By defining who you are and what your purpose is, you’ll have a clear vision for your new business. Plus, when potential clients ask you what you do, you can share your mantra!
