Be part of a global movement to improve our planet’s health by celebrating World Environment Day on June 5!
The UN established World Environment Day in 1974 with the intention of protecting our environment. This important day has become the single largest celebration of our environment and a successful and powerful way for communities worldwide to take action on urgent environmental issues each year. World Environment Day not only serves as a platform for global action to sustain our planet, but also as a catalyst for politics to focus their attention on the protection of the environment. India will be the global host for World Environment Day this year and is “committed to making Planet Earth a cleaner and greener place.”
This year’s theme is “beating plastic pollution” in hopes that the world will come together to help eliminate single-use plastic pollution.
Beat Plastic Pollution is such an important theme as plastic pollution has become an increasingly harmful threat to our planet.
