IIN was honored recently to have the chance to host Walter Willet for a discussion of health care and health coaching. The physician, Harvard Medical School professor, and nutrition authority shared his thoughts on the evolution of the health care system and nutrition knowledge in America, as well as the role that Health Coaches can play in the ongoing global health revolution.
Willett touched upon some of the most pressing problems facing our country today, including the fact that the income and knowledge gap is translating into a massive gap in eating quality. He sees Health Coaches as a possibility to close this gap by working with lower-income people to improve nutritional quality, as well as provide the nutritional knowledge that many traditional physicians lack. As he said, “I think Health Coaches can play a very important part in the effort to help people adopt better lifestyle practices.”
