The Institute for Integrative Nutrition is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Mercy Corps, a leading humanitarian aid organization working to save and improve lives in the world’s toughest places. For every new student who enrolls at IIN, we’re donating $100 to Mercy Corps’ nutrition programs in Guatemala and Ethiopia. This $100 will be amplified by other partners to an average of $6,025 for each program, adding up to big impact.

That impact will be felt in the form of tangible, significant, and lasting change for program participants in Guatemala and Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, where the land and the people are still feeling the effects of a devastating 2010 drought, Mercy Corps has launched a number of powerful initiatives aimed at addressing issues involving human health, natural resources, and climate change. Their mobile health clinics have saved lives, treating severely malnourished children with high-protein foods to restore them to healthy weights, while at the same time teaching families about the value of a balanced diet to ensure sustainable healthy patterns and lasting change.

In Guatemala, Mercy Corps distributes food and provides nutrition education to mothers and young children, while also helping small farmers get the highest yield from their crops. A network of pharmacies in previously unserved remote villages completes their health-focused effort.

At IIN, we believe that we’re not just a school, but a movement. The beauty is that we’re also one part of a larger, global movement toward health and awareness, a movement in which Mercy Corps is a major player. We are honored to have Mercy Corps as a partner, and excited to see the impact this new initiative has on the effort to bring well-being and healthy lives to people all over the world.
