If someone had showed me a few years ago what my life looks like today, I would not believe it. At this moment I am creating a wellness center in the Bay Area with one of my mentors and going to Bali to take a raw food culinary course for a month. I am in deep gratitude for what I have created in my life.
You would think I would have had to network and work really hard to create this. But actually, the complete opposite happened. The path to how I got here is through deep surrender. I didn’t do anything at all.
The old Jill used to be a doer, an achiever, and was the busiest person I knew. I just didn’t know how to stop. It was one thing after another and I didn’t know how to just be to receive all of the benefits of my hard work. The funniest thing was, most of the stuff I was doing wasn’t even in alignment with what my soul really wanted in life. Perhaps it was what society expected of me?
When I started to surrender and let go of all the things that my heart wasn’t aligned with, incredible things started to flow into my life. It was pretty miraculous to see that the universe knew all along what was right for me. I finally learned how to receive.
By shifting your energy into a more feminine or receiving mode, you can bring beautiful things into your life. Just how savasana is one of the most important yoga poses as you receive all of the benefits of your practice, surrendering to life in general, if practiced, can bring about the same results.
Lately, people have been asking me how I do it. I have found that letting go and surrendering to the process is so much more productive than trying to do everything you can to get somewhere. I believe that forcing something to happen, struggling, and then essentially giving up can be avoided with a few simple tips.
Get clear about what you want in life: It’s very important to get clear about what you want to create in life. If you are not sure, meditate or journal about it. Creating a vision board is also very powerful. Listen to your intuition and take action on that inner guidance.
Believe that anything is possible: If you don’t believe you can get or do something, you never will. Your thoughts and words are very powerful. Be careful of what you focus on.
Know that you are always taken care of: As Marie Forleo would say, “Everything is figureoutable.” People are so fearful about failing, losing their jobs, their house, or all of their money. If you want to quit your job to follow your dreams, you will figure it out. The universe conspires when we follow our passion.
Stay present: Focusing on the present moment will keep you grounded. You have food to eat, a bed to sleep in, and a roof over your head? It’s all good. Worrying about the past or stressing about the future is pretty much creating just that. More stress.
If something is not working, it’s time to change directions: One of the biggest lessons I learned was that trying to make something happen is counterproductive. A rejection is just a re-direction in life. Whether that is a job or relationship or anything for that matter, something even better is on the way. Believe that.
