Integrative Nutrition graduate Karina Velasco is, by all accounts, a Latin sensation, on and off the red carpet. She enjoys a dynamic life hosting events at the Latin Grammys, and being a Health Coach for celebrity clients like singer Thalia, television host Raul de Molina, Rebecca de Alba and Marco Antonio Regil.
We caught up with Karina recently and talked with her about the impact Integrative Nutrition's Health Coach Training Program has had on her life.
What were you doing before Integrative Nutrition?
I have been working in television and radio as a host and producer since 1993.
What led you to explore Integrative Nutrition's Health Coach Training Program?
I have always been interested in nutrition and wellbeing. I studied yoga in India in 2001 and since then my life started to change and I became a self-study person about different detoxes and diets. Then I decided I could become a health coach and fuse both careers to bring this information to the public.
"It's been really helpful to have access to so much information and to be able to create a community of like minded people. It has given me the credibility and support I needed to achieve and reach more people."
What happened since you enrolled in Integrative Nutrition's Health Coach Training Program?
Wow a lot, I teach nutrition and cooking classes in Mexico and the U.S. I have TV segments in Mexico about Integrative Nutrition; I write in several magazines including Runners World Mexico and my book The Art of Healthy Living is out in stores this next month in Central America, Mexico and the U.S. I am also writing my second book and starting Nutrition TV segments in Latin TV in the U.S.
I am invited as an expert on several shows on television and radio to talk about healthy living.
I coach celebrity clients such as singer Thalia, TV host Raul de Molina, Rebecca de Alba and Marco Antonio Regil among others. Besides my health coaching and Natural foods chef career, I host entertainment specials for Televisa the biggest Network in the Spanish speaking world and events at the Latin Grammys.
What did you learn at IIN?
I learned about inspiration, motivation and to learn to create your own work and life and stop depending on external persons to do so. It gave me life skills and helped me to achieve and transcend my fears to achieve what I have at the moment. I am forever grateful and it has been by far one of the most fulfilling and amazing experiences in my life.
What do you love about the school?
I love Joshua and Robert. The curriculum and support. The energy is amazing and its so much fun!
How has studying with an international Health Coach Training Program benefited you?
It's been really helpful to have access to so much information and to be able to create a community of like minded people. It has given me the credibility and support I needed to achieve and reach more people.
Is there a need for Health Coaches in your area of the world?
In Mexico definitely, the obesity problem is huge and the health care system doesn’t put any importance on food and diets.
What do you love about your work?
Everything, serving, loving, helping, giving and seeing healthier and happier people.
