Enrollment Questions

How old is this program? When was the Institute established?

The Institute was founded 15 years ago by our director, Joshua Rosenthal, and we have a strong, active community of more than 4,500 alumni from all around the country.

Do you offer payment plans?

We recognize that financing an education is a major commitment. We are dedicated to offering reasonable tuition payment plans.

To learn more about the different payment options please call one of our Admissions Advisors at (877) 730-5444.

Do you have an online or distance learning program?

We have structured our Professional Training Program as a hybrid between distance learning and in-person classes so that no matter where you live, you can participate.

Our in-person classes are held on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from January through July. For exact dates, please see our class schedule page. Roughly 50% of our student body travels into New York City for these weekend classes.

Many students travel from within the Northeast (Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, etc.). Others fly in from Washington DC, Virginia, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Washington, Ohio, Nevada, Nebraska, California, Florida, New Mexico and Alaska.

We also have many students from outside of the United States, including England, Ireland, Holland, Spain, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa and the Cayman Islands!

Outside of the weekend classes, all other program components (Online Education Forums, counseling calls, reference library of books, CDs, DVDs and other materials, local study groups, etc.) are designed to serve the distance learning student.

Give us a call at (877) 730-5444 to find out how our program can work for you – no matter where you live.

What continuing education options are available after graduation?

We offer exceptional support to current and past students. As a graduate, you will have access to our Online Education Forums, our Alumni Network and to Alumni events and conferences, making your education last a lifetime.

In addition, you can receive advanced training after graduation by joining our Immersion Program. In this free second-year training program, we offer qualifying students an extraordinary immersion experience. Immersionists receive business and personal support in creating a private practice, enhancing counseling skills, seeing clients in a supervised setting and are given advanced certification. This program includes a special weekend retreat in the fall, a winter conference in South Beach, Florida, and a conference in New York City in the spring.

Who is your student body?

Students attracted to our program tend to be unique, energetic, intelligent people, allowing the pace of our program to move rapidly. The ages of our students range from 18 to 65. About three-quarters of our students are women and the student body includes many races and nationalities.

Our students have varied and diverse backgrounds representing fields from Wall Street to food service, health care to accounting – and they all share a passion for healthful living.

After graduation, will I be trained to administer other programs besides the six-month program?

As a graduate, we will train you to be able to administer a six-month health counseling program, as a way of helping your clients to create lasting change.

However, the six-month program is a guideline that can be altered to best suit your needs and the needs of your clients. We have many graduates who have altered the six-month program to work with specific types of clients. Many graduates choose to work with clients in group settings, for shorter and/or longer periods of time, or with different income levels.

Please contact us at (877)730-5444 for a phone interview with an Admissions Advisor, who will help determine whether or not Integrative Nutrition is the right program for you.

How many students are in a class?

Our program is designed to have different types of classes within the program – all with different sizes. Your health counseling sessions will be one-on-one and are designed to give you individual support to help you attain your personal goals for the program. Your Local Study Chapters are small groups of 5-15 students, and are designed for practicing consultations, health food store tours and cooking classes, and for extra support from your local student community.

Our Online Education Forums are a place to continue discussions from class and ask questions - 24 hours a day.

The weekend classes are where we all come together. Last year we had about 1100 students, and expect the same number for this year's class. The weekend classes are designed to move and inspire you through the energy and connection of a large community of healthy people, with plenty of time to ask questions, connect to other students, and relate to the teachers.

Does the school have a religious affiliation?

We are not affiliated with any religion. One of the foundational elements of our curriculum is something we call primary food. Primary food are elements that nourish us at a much deeper level than the food we actually eat, including spirituality.

For some, this may mean following the tenets of an organized religion. For others, it may mean taking a walk outside and reconnecting to nature. We support our students in finding an element of spirituality in their lives that works for them.

Do you offer support around cooking and shopping?

Every year, our most frequently asked questions are around how to make healthy cooking and shopping quick, easy and affordable. To support our students in this area, we offer two instructional videos -- one of a healthy cooking demonstration and the other of a health food store tour. We also offer two interactive, online manuals which are designed to totally demystify setting up your kitchen, buying the best tools, materials, gadgets, etc. and the highest quality foods. Basically, we've done all the leg work for you! There's something for everyone - from the beginner to the advanced cook. And the best part is, as the year goes on, you'll be able to read and learn from the reviews of staff, faculty, and other students.

How can I obtain a catalog?

Our new catalog is available. You can download our catalog here.

If you'd like to receive a copy by mail, simply give us a call at (877) 730-5444.

Is your monthly newsletter subscription free of charge?

Yes! Our monthly newsletter is a free service we provide - a source for thought-provoking news and a refreshing perspective on food, nutrition and health. You've never experienced anything like this before!

To start receiving our newsletter, subscribe directly through our website at http://www.integrativenutrition.com

Can you tell me more about student websites?

As a student in our Professional Training Program, you'll receive a beautiful, ready to use, comprehensive website, about halfway through your school year. You can completely personalize it as many times as you like - as easily as editing a Word document - and it has online versions of forms to use in your work with clients.

How much personal attention will I get as a student?

Put simply, A LOT! One of the defining aspects or our school is the amount of personal attention you will receive.

We are not like most schools where the staff and faculty don't know your name - and where you rarely have time and space to ask questions and be heard. We take pride in supporting you - individually - to get the most out of the program.

From having an individual health counselor throughout the program, to Local Study Chapters, to having access to staff, graduates, and faculty 24/7 through our Online Education Forums - you'll be amazed at how close and connected you feel throughout the program.

Is this a vegetarian approach to nutrition?

We are the only school in the world that teaches all the different dietary perspectives; from traditional tomodern, from the East to the West, and from raw foods to the Atkins diet.

This is true holistic nutrition: not just eating according to whatever the top food theory is at the moment, but noticing each person's life as a whole. This means that for one person, a vegetarian diet may be the best diet for them at this point in their life, while another person may need some animal protein in their diet to be in the best of health.

Where can I find student references or testimonials?

You can find several student testimonials on our website by clicking here.

Do you have any age requirements?

Students attracted to our program tend to be unique, exceptional, intelligent people, allowing the pace of our program to move rapidly. This concept is fundamental in our school.

While we don't have any minimum age requirements, the age of our students tends to range between 18 and 65. Over 3/4 of our students are women.

What should I bring to the Class Weekend?

If you like to take notes, we suggest you bring a pen and notebook. At each Class Weekend , you'll receive a full set of books, materials and handouts (just like you did when you enrolled). You do not need to bring any books or materials to the next class you attend.

We recommend you wear comfortable, casual clothing and be sure you bring a sweater if you tend to get cold. We want everyone to be comfortable.

Since you will be receiving materials at each Class Weekend , it is also a great idea to bring an extra bag so you can easily carry your things home. One with wheels is ideal if you are traveling to class.

What happens if I have to miss a class?

We understand that our students are busy people and have complex schedules, so we've set it up so that if you do miss a class, you won't miss any of the material. Before each weekend, there will be an outline of the class posted to the Online Education Forums. Topic discussions will be continued online during and after the class. You can receive all of your handouts and materials at the next class weekend. You can also review the class and its materials with your health counselor at your next session.

Over 60% of our students participate in this program, and most begin to build their practice even while they are in school.

In the past, we have offered our supplemental Advanced Vocational Training program for an additional $1,500. We are proud to announce that we have now integrated our Advanced Vocational Training curriculum into our Professional Training Program with no additional cost.
